Thank you Chennai

Dear Chennai,
You transformed a girl into a woman and you changed from a strange city to a home in her heart.
As I’m bidding goodbye to Chennai, Thought to recall the time spent here and wanted to thank people who made my journey more memorable and beautiful. I’m fortunate to spend my time here.
If you ask me to define Chennai, answer would be Beaches and Best Buddies. Both thought me a lot and given me countless memories through all these years.
Today, I feel glad to spend my time here. But, it wasn’t same feeling when I came for the first time to Chennai. I heard bad opinions about Chennai. First few months were miserable for me too. The autowala who charged double, bad hostel food and language problem made me to feel that my opinion about Chennai is right. I was seriously searching for ways to run away from here. I was completely restless.
We were a group of fresher’s who joined in a software company. Most of them were from different parts of Tamilnadu. When I started observing things happening around me, I could able see people around are encouraging me to speak Tamil, ready to accept me as one among them. That’s beginning of the story. When I asked about my restlessness in a group conversation, I told that, I don’t know Tamil and even don’t like Tamilians much. Even after that a guy in the team said, “Dai, Tamil is not that difficult and you can easily learn it. I don’t like to talk about, why and what you don’t like in Tamilians. But I strongly believe that you will change your opinion very soon.” That’s the turning point.
Everyone one in the team, in fact everyone I come across helped me to learn many things including Tamil. The best part is making fun with my bad Tamil over coffee breaks. Of course, I’m still a bad Tamil speaker but they got used to it. 😉
I’m at loss for words to describe about my friends here. I met many friends who did all the right things to me in the right times.
Buddies, you made my life so happy in many ways and I treasure this friendship forever. Thank you for standing by my side when times were hard. Thank you for being a part of my story and you thought me how to stand strong with a smiling face, no matter what. I know this is not end and we turned from friends to family now. 🙂

I have always been a beach lover and every beach here thought me something.
In Besannagar beach, I saw the smiles of people coming from Ashtalakshmi temple and Annai Vailankanni church. Happiness is always filled in that air. In ECR beach, Calm and long. It will make you feel that you are indestructible. I have seen the real tamilian love in Marina beach only. This incident happened months later of  Jayalalitha  garu  demise. The crowd is as high as you have to wait in the queue and it felt like that incident happened that day. I have even seen people who are crying even after so many days. This is a simple example, if you did a small favor to a Tamilian, They will treat you like a family, No matter where you are from.
There are many things I learnt from Chennaites: Their simplicity in living, Civility, Importance given to their culture and arts, Dedication to follow the tradition and many more..
In short, Thank you for everything and you won my heart.. 🙂

Equality in Quilling

I’m Here to share my first creativity in quilling and i’m gonna tell making too[of course it’s very very easy.. ;)]

Usually Quilling specified as Art for Ladies. But that’s in old days. Now It’s a world of Equality. It’s basically a creative art.Open for both Boys and Girls.

At present, Girls and Boys have equal opportunities and competing equally. To present this,I made a card with the concept of “Equality”.

I have used a loose circle, square, triangle and a tear drop.

Origin circle made with both blue and white color combinations.remaining two are just with pink.making loose circle is very simple, just rolling up and leaving it loose and close it with glue at required size.

I have used three colors to make tear drop.As i already told in my previous post,Mixing colors is not difficult.glue the different colors with required length and finally roll it up.After finishing roll up as circle, just press half circle in to ‘V’ shape. There you made a tear drop..:)

Finally, I have glued all the shapes in a planned order and made the message with white pearls. 🙂

I hope you guys liked this concept..

Happy Quilling..Much more concept oriented quilling cards are coming soon..Keep following…

Love to see your creative cards too..Can add in comments if u like to share with me..

Comments and Concerns are always Welcome to improve myself.

Start Quilling

Days are moving very plain and systematically.I felt Bored with same routine.
I thought of engaging myself with some arts to kill this boredom and refilling the energy..
I can’t change work time. So,I have decide to redesign the time at home.

Arts and culture always plays a great role in our life.As well, colors always impact on our moods.
So,when I’m browsing for the arts related to the colors,One of my colleague suggested me the ” Quilling Art”.which i can try myself in home, at same time which will be useful to make home colorful.

Quilling is an art, which is there from 18th century and most popular in Europe. After that is has been spread to the world. It can be done with paper strips.people have chances to show their creativity by rolling, molding the paper strips. We can make ear rings, ornaments, cards, and much more designs too..

It’s a very simple process to need of any specific training.people can start doing with few colored strips and a quilling needle. It’s a great chance to show your creativity.

Required instruments

These are very basic instruments to start the quilling needle to roll up the paper, glue to stick the papers and scissors.
There will different types of quilling tools. But for the beginners these are enough to give a start. Slotted needle to keep the paper starting in the slot   and roll up around it.This is best way to make rounded rolls.Normal needle also can be used to roll up.

Paper Strips

Paper strip can be available in different sizes(3mm,5mm,7mm..etc).Choosing the best size is always confusion. But as beginner, We can start card designs with 7mm, and ear rings and other designs with 3mm.
We can make different shapes with this strips. It’s all about rolling up differently.I’ll add different basic designs and the shapes what i made for the first time. :

Just Roll the stripped needle in round by keeping the starting of the paper inside the slot. After finishing rolling,Ending of the paper should be glued to make the closed shapes.
If it’s open shapes, we can take equal part to make the equal parts.

I had made the few shapes with mixed colors too. It’s looks difficult but very very easy.Intially we should join the different color strips with glue.we have a long strip with diffrent well start making shapes as normal. Finally,we will just adjust the layers and glue it.

That’s Simple..Happy Quilling..

September 2nd 2011, I rushed up myself on Chennai roads to find out Lucid Software Ltd.I haven’t told you right, that was my first day of office even to job life 🙂

A bit differing with the classes,Meet up gone with fun and training days has been started..

Trainer is saying with bold voice about real problems, project dead lines ,time management and handling tension.

I was very enthusiastic about my software job,Because i’m crazy about it.

I thought to shout loudly,Those are not at all new to us,we have handled lot in four years of engineering.A single night batting for 3 hours exam thought us all these world problems.By seeing my feelings he given me a pleasant smile which i never ever forget in my life.

Very soon  I came to realize the facts about 9-6 life..

Errrh..Where creativity sucks..

Still,I love this field. Where i have seen lot of stress, lot of joy,lot of new kind of people, and a lot of new technologies..
